The Laboratory of Neurophysiology at the University of Concepcion offers the opportunity for a motivated graduate student to contribute to the characterization of the role of glycine receptors in brain neurons. We are studying the role of these receptors on alcohol addiction using a diversity of techniques such as confocal microscopy, molecular biology, patch clamp in single neurons and brain slices, optogenetics, AAVs technology, genetic engineered models and behavior studies. This research is funded by a competitive NIH grant and considers collaborations and visits to labs in the US and EU.
It is best suited for proactive, goal-oriented, Ph.D. student with some experience in one of techniques already mentioned. The student is expected to work in a collaborative manner and to publish the results in ISI Journals.
If you are interested please contact Professor Luis G. Aguayo through the application form, writing “Doctoral Thesis” in the subject. Please include CV and a letter with areas of interest, and the names of two references.
