Role Description
Position Purpose:
– To develop collaborative initiatives aimed to maximize the transfer of knowledge between the center of excellence and the institutions and/or research centers, intended to improve the knowledge and experience of Chilean scientists in the field of biomedical research.
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
– Promote the development of relations between the university and the company and other private sector third parties (ex. Biopharmaceutical companies and trade associations, among others), with the aim of developing joint R&D initiatives.
– Drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements/contracts for collaborative research with third parties as universities or research centers
– Coordinate tech transfer activities and training related with collaboration agreements
– Coordinate and develop training programs (seminars, workshops, congresses, diplomas, internships, exchanges and mentoring, among others) in partnership with universities and / or research centers at national and international levels.
– Coordinate and develop the corporate mentoring program, which will aim to strengthen the business capabilities of biotech entrepreneurs identified through collaboration partnerships with Start-Up Chile and other business incubators.
– Coordinate educational activities with local schools and teachers aimed to develop the interest of young people in science
– Support all CEMP outreach activities as defined in the communication plan.

– Ability to develop/write proposals and scope documents, and present them in formal and informal professional settings
– Previous successful applications submissions and competitive research fund raising in Chile and/or worldwide
– Exceptional communication skills in Spanish and English written and spoken.
– Ability to perform under pressure and adapt to changes (e.g., priorities and timelines) and to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment.
– Ability to propose and implement strategic and innovative solutions to problems. Positive attitude and a collaborative approach to problem solving.
Qualifications
– Minimum of BA/BS in a biochemistry, bioengineering, molecular biology or related field is required.
– Master degree is preferred
– 3-5 years’ experience in technology transfer, intellectual property, research contract negotiation, knowledge management, education, curriculum design and development
– 3-5 years’ experience in business development in the biomedical field including identification and evaluation of business opportunities, technology valuation, market research and negotiation of contracts.
– Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
