The lab and the projects:
Our laboratory develops cutting-edge tissue clearing technologies such as 3DISCO (Nature Medicine, 2012), uDISCO (Nature Methods, 2016) and vDISCO (Nature Neuroscience, 2019). These methods allow 3D mapping of intact organisms (e.g. mouse) to holistically investigate the biological functions and mechanisms between health and disease (e.g. stroke, TBI, cancer metastasis, nanomaterial-assisted drug delivery, etc.). In addition, we developed machine-learning based algorithms to analyze these large 3D imaging data such as our DeepMACT work to study cancer metastasis https://www.biorxiv.org/content/biorxiv/early/2019/02/05/541862.full.pdf
The position:
The projects for these specific positions include:
- Developing novel tissue chemistry to label and clear human organs as they are more challenging in term of size, composition and age compare with mouse organs.
- Developing variable small molecules and /or antibodies for deep tissue histology. 3. Developing novel biomaterial (synthesized or natural) for in vitro 3D tissue engineering.
Your qualifications:
We are looking for a chemistry background scientist with knowledge in organic, inorganic and biochemistry. In addition, you should be:
– Self-motivated
– Fast-learning and enjoying challenging environment
– Appreciate multidisciplinary research and team work
