Description: As a summer intern at Diassess Inc., you will be working in a laboratory in Santiago, Chile on advancing our scientific research. The position will be a combination of reagent and assay setup, troubleshooting experiments, data acquisition, post experimental analysis, and meticulous documentation of protocols and results. You will be responsible for assay set up from patient samples for the company’s clinical trial over the summer.
Primary Job Function:
• Conduct experiments in a laboratory setting under sterile conditions for upcoming clinical trial;
• Handle patient samples and extract material from patient swabs in a BSL2 environment under GxP and general safety regulations;
• Troubleshoot experimental set ups and evaluate results with autonomy;
• Collect data on patient samples via a mobile application in an organized fashion and help with data analysis;
• Maintain clear and concise documentation of processes and results both online and in a lab notebook;
• Prepare reports on experimental set ups when needed and document any deviation from established protocol;
• Assist with the procurement of supplies, sample storage and general laboratory maintenance.
Education: You will have a BS or MS (preferred) in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or Genetics and have demonstrated technical experience and competence.
Experience and Training: Previous experience working in a scientific laboratory is required. Candidates will ideally have 1-2 years of experience with molecular biology techniques, preferably in an industrial setting. Candidates should have demonstrated ability to work autonomously and independently in a laboratory setting. Additionally, experience with PCR, real-time PCR, and DNA, RNA and patient sample handling is very favorable.
Preferred skills:
• You have experience designing and performing nucleic acid amplification assays like PCR and qPCR and operating lab instruments such as thermocyclers/ PCR machines
• You have experience working under sterile conditions and using well known sterility techniques
• You have experience working with patient samples in a BSL2 type environment
• You have experience working with and handling RNA and DNA
• You have excellent problem solving skills, time management skills, organizational skills, and documentation skills
• You have the ability to thrive both individually and in a team environment
• You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Se busca bioquímico o biotecnólogo para posición de técnico de laboratorio para empresa extranjera en Chile. Inicialmente, este es un proyecto acotado de 4 meses, pero con potencial de extensión acorde a los resultados de esta primera fase.
Ideal con amplia experiencia en biología molecular, PCR, manejo de muestras de pacientes y técnicas de esterilidad. Proactividad, excelente comunicación y habilidades interpersonales. Saber inglés es un plus.
Habilidades específicas:
• Experiencia en diseño y realización de ensayos de amplificación de ácidos nucleicos como PCR y qPCR.
• Experiencia en operan instrumentos de laboratorio tales como termocicladores / PCR
• Experiencia de trabajo en condiciones estériles
• Experiencia de trabajo con muestras de pacientes en un entorno de tipo BSL2
• Excelentes habilidades de resolución de problemas, gestión del tiempo, organización, y habilidades de documentación.
